Spider veins are dilated veins or capillaries close to the surface of the skin. They are most often found on the face or legs and manifest as visible red, purple, or blue veins.
A family history of spider veins is the strongest indicator of a tendency towards spider veins. Hormonal factors, including puberty, pregnancy, menopause, the use of birth control pills, hormone replacement therapy, estrogen, and progesterone influence the onset of spider veins.
At LuxBright Medica, we treat spider vein disorders using the best laser equipment available, specifically the WOLF laser. The procedures are done by our licensed Chiropodists, and our laser treatments involve no surgical intervention, so you will experience much less discomfort during and following your treatments.
Although there is no way to tell for sure which veins will respond, a full medical history prior to the treatment will help determine what you should expect. Prior surgery or treatment on your veins could affect the treatment outcome. In some cases, further testing may be recommended to determine if there are underlying venous problems.
Long-term success varies from patient to patient, vessel to vessel. Many of the vessels treated require only one or two treatments. Multiple treatments are usually required for optimum results.
Laser Vein Removal is not recommended for those patients who:
• Are pregnant.
• Use medication for which 1064 nm light exposure is contraindicated.
• Have diabetes.
• Have a history of clotting disorders or take anticoagulants.
• Have a history of skin keloids as they may be prone to scarring after any skin trauma including laser treatment.
• Have an active infection or history of herpes simplex in the area to be treated.
• Have a history of personal or familial skin cancer.
Over time it is possible for new veins to appear, but these too can be erased. Optimal results can be maintained only if you apply sunscreen and avoid exposure to the sun.
